  • Molecular distillation is a distillation method that operates in a high vacuum, where the mean free path of the vapor molecules is greater than the distance between the evaporating surface and the condensing surface, so that the liquid mixture can be separated by the difference in the evaporation rates of each group of molecules in the feed liquid.

1、 The distillation temperature is low, and molecular distillation operates at temperatures far below the boiling point. As long as there is a temperature difference, separation can be achieved. This is the fundamental difference between molecular distillation and conventional distillation.
2、The vacuum degree of distillation is high, and the internal of the molecular distillation apparatus can achieve a very high vacuum degree. Molecular distillation typically operates at very low pressures, making it difficult for materials to oxidize or deteriorate.
3、 The film thickness in distillation is thin, resulting in high heat transfer efficiency.
4、The heating time for materials is short because the distance between the heated liquid surface and the condensing surface is smaller than the average free path of light molecules. Therefore, light molecules that escape from the liquid surface almost reach the condensing surface without collision. As a result, materials are heated for only a few seconds to tens of seconds at distillation temperatures, reducing their chances of thermal decomposition.
5、Higher separation efficiency: Molecular distillation can separate substances that are not easily separated by conventional methods.
6、No boiling bubble phenomenon: Molecular distillation involves free evaporation on the liquid layer's surface under low pressure conditions with no dissolved air in liquids; therefore, there are no bubbles during the process.

8、 Molecular distillation equipment is expensive, and the molecular distillation apparatus must ensure a high vacuum degree in the system pressure. It requires high material sealing and an appropriate distance between the evaporation surface and condensation surface. The processing difficulty of the equipment is high, resulting in a higher cost.
9、The product has low energy consumption because molecular distillation minimizes separation heat loss and its unique structural form results in extremely low internal pressure and significantly reduced internal resistance compared to conventional distillation methods.
